Post Production Techniques

During the research period for my last photoshoot I found a new way of editing pictures, in which I basically deconstruct an image and put it back together in the ways and colours I want to, literally painting over the photo and under the texture. How?

Is actually a very simple process.

1. Edit pimples, expression lines and correct shapes on faces and bodies if necessary (not my personal preference, but industry requires it sometimes, and is a valuable tool).

2. Triplicate the picture, having a base layer, a colour layer, and a texture layer.

3. Blur the colour layer up until you cannot see texture on the skin, just colours, and enough definition to differentiate different parts of the face or body.
4. Apply image on the texture layer, removing the colour layer from the appliance.
5. Set the texture layer to linear light.

6. Done. Paint over the skin to correct anything without loosing texture on the skin.
